A great way to remind oneself not to grab at every opportunity or try to be someone else. "I must keep to my own style." As I like to say, that's one to stitch onto a pillow!
Thank you so much for this deep dive into authenticity. It's a word I'm seeing *everywhere* at the moment, particularly the way that readers/viewers/etc. want this from the 'content creators' online. And it's easy to understand why: with so much access into people's lives through social media platforms, we want to be sure that we're not being lied to, that they genuinely do enjoy the products/books/etc. that they're sharing with us, for example. It's something that I've been thinking a lot about as I work on various projects that are tempted to pull me away from 'my own style', to coin Jane's phrase. So, thank you for the reminder and the top tips for maintaining authenticity!
Yes, as you say, we've become so aware of fake content....and AI has made it even more so. I am not an AI resister, I accept things change and new innovation is part of the development of he human race, but I don't think a lot about how, as writers and content creators, we can protect/retain our value into the future. It's going to get harder as AI learns to mimic our authenticity. I am adapting my strategies and will keep on doing so.
With all the noise, Jane’s reminder to stick to our own style is the best advice, I have it on my wall. Writing about it was a good reminder for me too 🙂

That would make a great pillow!
This is refreshing. I’ve been thinking about this concept for a while. It’s nice to ride about Jane’s authenticity.
It's a great topic, and one we are always thinking about as well!
